Left Mechanical MPD Hand Control

Anthea Love, M.S.,OTR/L, DRS

Background:

I have over 15 years experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT) and over 21 years experience working to advocate for individuals with disabilities to remain as independent as possible within the community. During my journey as an OT, I have worked in acute care, Inpatient Rehab, skilled nursing, outpatient, and home health settings educating patients on ways to modify tasks based on their current ability.

My Story

I am married to a Retired Marine and mother of two boys. My family and I live in Greensboro, NC and I work in Danville, VA. One of the needs I discovered while working in the hospital in Southern Virginia was that at discharge the question of returning to driving always came up and the closest locations for a driving evaluation were not easily accessible.

I have always had an interest in driving and community mobility and was referred to Adaptive Mobility Services -which provides extensive mentorship and training for an Occupational Therapist to become a Driving Rehabilitation Specialist.

As a result of this extensive training in addition to my experience as an OT, I can provide comprehensive driving evaluations which includes a behind-the-wheel portion completed in your neighborhood after a clinical exam in your home. Our services also include training for low-tech modifications to promote safety while driving when needed.

A message from Thea…

“I am excited and grateful to be able to help Danville and Southern Virginia as well as North Carolina residents who have experienced major changes due to illness or injury to regain or learn a modified way of driving when safe and appropriate.”
